Parramatta residents have the chance to clear out their unwanted electronics in an environmentally friendly way with the return of the City of Parramatta’s E-Waste Drop-off Day, taking place on Sunday, 25 May at the Rydalmere Operations Centre.
The free community event offers locals a convenient opportunity to dispose of old or broken household electronics – from laptops and TVs to batteries and tangled cords – without leaving their vehicle. Residents simply need to drive through the drop-off point, where Council staff will be ready to assist.
Lord Mayor Cr Martin Zaiter highlighted the importance of responsible e-waste recycling, calling the initiative a simple but effective step toward a more sustainable city.
“This might seem like a small step, but it has big impacts in supporting a more sustainable City, especially when e-waste is one of the fastest growing waste streams in Australia,” Cr Zaiter said.
“Every time waste electronics go into landfill, we lose precious resources like copper and silver that can be reused, and we risk polluting soil and waterways with hazardous chemicals like lead and mercury.”
By recycling electronics properly, residents contribute to reducing environmental harm and help recover valuable materials.
