Ahmedabad Plane Crash: Miracle Survivor Speaks from Hospital Bed – “It’s Nothing Short of a Blessing”

Ahmedabad |

In a tragic turn of events that stunned the nation, an Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner flight bound for London Gatwick crashed shortly after take-off from Ahmedabad airport on Wednesday. While the crash claimed several lives and left many injured, a miraculous story of survival has emerged.

One of the few survivors, Ramesh Vishwas Kumar, is currently being treated at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. He was travelling to London for a family reunion when the aircraft struck the student hostel of BJ Medical College, causing devastating damage and chaos on the ground.

Speaking from his hospital bed, with visible injuries but a steady voice, Ramesh said, “It’s nothing short of a blessing. I don’t know how I made it out alive. People around me were screaming, there was smoke everywhere, and I could feel the heat from the flames. Then everything went blank.”

Medical officials confirm that Ramesh is out of danger but will remain under observation for several days due to internal injuries and trauma.

The crash resulted in the deaths of at least five students who were residing in the hostel building, and many others sustained critical injuries. The total number of casualties onboard is yet to be officially confirmed.

Authorities, including the DGCA and local police, are continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash, focusing on possible technical failure shortly after take-off. The black box has been recovered and sent for analysis.

Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Ministry has assured full support to the families of the victims and has praised the emergency services for their swift response.

Ramesh’s survival story has brought a glimmer of hope amidst the tragedy and stands as a powerful reminder of the unpredictable nature of life — and miracles.
